LCA 2010 Open Day
Where: Wellington Town Hall
When: Saturday 23rd January
Time:11am-2pm
The LCA2010 Open Day is an opportunity for the general public to learn about the use of free and open source software in education, government and business, across 35 stalls of exhibitors, from sponsors to community groups.
Open Day Talks
We will also have a number of talks throughout the day in the Illot Theatre:
- 11.00am-11.15am: Welcome
- 11.15am-12.00am: Open Source for Newbies, Leslie Hawthorn and Cat Allman (Google)
- 12.15pm-1.00pm: 50 ways to love your projec, Josh Berkus and Selena Deckelman
- 1.15pm-2.00pm: Geek my car, Jon Oxer
Little Blu Kids Area
One Laptop per Child (OLPC) will be on hand to entertain the kids in the green room with lots of great activities on their laptops. Bring along your kids, and let them have a hands on experience of free and open source software!
Hackfest
There will be a hackfest upstairs in the West Gallery. If you are interested in hacking on a project, take a seat and join in the fun. We'll have representatives from the Drupal project and open source gaming!
Makers
Tom and Phillip from www.greenstage.co.nz will be downstairs in the West Court to show you their electric cars, and we'll have the Wellington Makerspace to demo some of the things they've been working on.
