LCA 2010 Open Day

Where: Wellington Town Hall

When: Saturday 23rd January

Time:11am-2pm

The LCA2010 Open Day is an opportunity for the general public to learn about the use of free and open source software in education, government and business, across 35 stalls of exhibitors, from sponsors to community groups.

If you would like to help advertise the Open Day, print out the following poster for use in your local business, school, university, community group, or governmental department.

Open Day Talks

We will also have a number of talks throughout the day in the Illot Theatre:

  • 11.00am-11.15am: Welcome
  • 11.15am-12.00pm: Open Source for Newbies, Leslie Hawthorn and Cat Allman (Google)
  • 12.15pm-1.00pm: 50 ways to love your project, Josh Berkus and Selena Deckelmann
  • 1.15pm-2.00pm: Geek my car, Jon Oxer

Little Blu Kids Area

One Laptop per Child (OLPC) will be on hand to entertain the kids in the green room with lots of great activities on their laptops. Bring along your kids, and let them have a hands on experience of free and open source software!

Hackfest

There will be a hackfest upstairs in the West Gallery. If you are interested in hacking on a project (including open source games), take a seat and join in the fun with other LCA delegates.

Makers

Tom and Phillip from www.greenstage.co.nz will be downstairs in the West Court to show you their electric cars, and we'll have the Wellington Makerspace to demo some of the things they've been working on.
